The individual we are looking for will be able to demonstrate the following knowledge, skills and experience:

• Experience in a supervisory role
• Ensure cost effective control of resources
• Excellent communication skills
• Evidence of working within a culture of continuous improvement
• Previous experience of working with local authorities would be a useful attribute
• PC skills useful but not essential
• Full driving licence

The Role

• Manage all aspects of the collection services and operations in line with the expectations of contract with the local authority.
• Ensure that all services delivered meet the clients required standard and that operating and other procedures are observed.
• Supervise employees in order to ensure that the service provided meets the contract compliance standards laid down by the Client Council through regular checks and monitoring of performance.
• Plan the allocation of resources necessary to maintain performance in line with schedules and budgetary requirements.
• Arrange and undertake training of employees at contract and to develop employee relationship, motivation, team-spirit and retention of quality employees.
• Provide management of the contract and employees to ensure that all company and legal standards, policies and procedures are met. Be conversant with and to meet the provisions of the relevant statutory legislation such as Health and Safety, Employment and Transport and to understand its importance to the working environment of the contract.
• Liaise with the local authority representatives and major commercial customers to further the client and commercial relationships and aid the smooth running of the contract.
• Ensure that contingency plans are prepared for unexpected occurrences, seasonal variations and annual events, which have particular relevance to services undertaken.
• To provide information in response to public enquiries complaints and actions.
• There may be an additional requirement to undertake other duties to support the Contract Operations Manager and the Company from time to time.
• The position involves weekend, bank holiday and weekday duty management responsibilities.
